The annual visit to monitor the implementation of LIFE + 11 NAT / RO / 825 project
Between 7 and 8 September 2015 the annual visit to monitor the implementation of LIFE + 11NAT / RO / 825 project took place.
Participants to this visit were PIU team – EPA Gorj, PIU associated beneficiaries – NGV and INCDS Brasov, Monitor Life, MMAP Life, together with the subcontractor of Pinus Mugo habitat restoration works – OS Brancusi in Oslea mountain area.
We moved along Tg-Jiu, Jiu Valley, Uricani, Western Jiu, forest land until we reached the restoration area of Pinus Mugo habitat, Oslea Mount.
In the area O.S. Brincusi has already finalized the access road, road necessary to transport the planting material (saplings of Pinus Mugo in polyethylene bags with nutrient), up to an altitude of approx. 1500 m, followed by foot climbing up to 1760 m altitude, with materials necessary for plantation enclosure.
The work of digging the 30,000 sites for planting Pinus Mugo saplings, which is carried out under C1 activity – 4070 * habitat restoration – scrubs with Pinus Mugo and Rhododendron Myrtifolium is in full development.
During the next day, the trip continued with a visit to the information center located on Tismana Valley, the area planted with chestnut in UP I, u.a. 35 C (Tismana – Cioclovina) and the area where biological therapies to treat cancer chestnut Tismana – Cornetul Pocruia have been made.
There have been checked the areas from Cornetul Pocruia where the first signs of recovery are visible, the forest began to react positively in treating cancer.
In Tismana – Cioclovina U.P.I., u.a. 35 C area, administrated by O.S. Eparhial, due to prolonged drought of about 3 months, much of chestnut saplings planted in the spring of 2015, on an area of 12.5 ha, dried, requiring a severe completion of barren places in the autumn of 2015.
The drought from 2015 was last felt approx. 50 ago.
For this C3 activity – full recovery of 25 ha of forest Vegetation habitat 9260 with Castanea sativa, the provider is SC RATDOB SRL, which provided works of completing the barren places in the first year after planting 15% and afterwards 10%, as required by forestry provisions in force.
The visit continued with passing a demonstrative area (Tismana) where treatment with hipovirulent strains has been successful faster than expected.
The project manager of the ICAS (INCDS) Brasov, Mr. PhD. engineer Dan Chira detailed what was the treatment, how strains were obtained, what was the certification procedure, and which is the stage in this moment.
At around six o’clock in the afternoon we returned to EPA GORJ headquarters to present the stage of implementation also for the other activities and to submit the required documents to the monitor.
There were a number of questions and answers about how to implement activities and about the financial problems.
